In a collaborative effort to combat deforestation and restore critical habitat, several organizations joined forces to launch the "Regreening Forest 2024" initiative. Held on June 2nd in Van Ho commune, Son La province, the event marks a significant step towards a long-term goal of restoring 500 hectares of forest along the ecological corridor connecting Hoa Binh and Son La provinces.
PanNature’s First Governance Board Meeting
PanNature has convened first Governance Board meeting on 15 January 2017 in our field office in Van Ho district, Son La province. Our current Board consists of six members: Dr. Dao Trong Hung – Chairman (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology), Mr. Nguyen Trung (former Ambassador of Vietnam to Germany and Thailand, former member of the Prime Minister’s Research Committee), Mrs. Pham Kieu Oanh (Director of CSIP), Dr. Le Hoang Lan (Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment), Mr. Tran Manh Chien (founder of Bac Tom Safe and Organic Food Store Chains), and Dr. To Xuan Phuc (Australian National University).
PanNature’s Board and staff also visited field sites in Xuan Nha Nature Reserve, where we observed the planned construction site of a hydropower project that potentially affects the protected forests and local communities. We were also very excited to meet with Moc Chau Xanh Energy Company. This start-up business is investing in developing technology to produce clean charcoal from agricultural residues (corn cobs).
