Less than three months after the initiative was launched on World Environment Day (June 5) this year, the project achieved its goal of planting 25 out of the total 50 hectares planned.
Seminar on Enhancing Stakeholder Participation in North Central Emission Reduction Benefits
To share and discuss the North Central Region Emission Reduction Payment Agreement (ERPA) aiming to support the community and relevant parties to implement the forest emission reduction payment policy effectively, PanNature organized a series of consultation meetings, workshops, seminars, and training on the ERPA benefit sharing plan in two provinces of Thua Thien – Hue and Quang Binh.
In one of those events, on 21st February 2023, PanNature and the Center for Sustainable Environment and Economic Development Studies – (SEEDS) cooperated to organize the Seminar: “Strengthening community and stakeholder participation in the benefit sharing mechanism from emission reductions in the North Central region” in Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh province.
The event gathered 60 participants from state agencies, management boards of conservation areas, national parks, forestry companies, and communities that manage and protect forests in the province.
The purpose of the seminar was to:
- Share and update information on the payment mechanism to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from forests in the North-Central region for forest owners, social organizations, communities, and stakeholders.
- Discuss the issues of implementing the benefit-sharing mechanism (CSLI) locally.
- Prepare for monitoring the mechanism for benefit sharing in the implementation of Decree on the pilot transfer of emission reductions and financial management under the Emission Reductions Payment Agreement for the North Central region.
