In Vietnam, management of wildlife diseases has garnered attention from both the State and the public. This is evident through a comprehensive system of regulations addressing diseases that can be transmitted from wildlife to humans spanning a range of documents, from laws to decrees and circulars. However, despite these efforts, the practical implementation of wildlife disease management still encounters numerous challenges and shortcomings.
Protecting Our Planet: PanNature Supports the Global Deal for Nature
Our planet’s incredible diversity of life faces unprecedented threats. To secure a future where this abundance thrives, we need immediate and decisive action. The Global Deal for Nature (GDN) offers a beacon of hope. This science-based plan serves as a roadmap for safeguarding Earth’s remarkable variety of living creatures.
The GDN isn’t a standalone effort. It works hand-in-hand with the Paris Climate Agreement, forming a comprehensive strategy to tackle critical environmental challenges. By promoting measures to combat climate change, the GDN aims to ensure a more sustainable future for generations to come. Additionally, it prioritizes species conservation through increased habitat protection and restoration efforts. The GDN recognizes the crucial role healthy ecosystems play in maintaining a healthy planet.
But the GDN goes beyond setting goals. It advocates for empowering indigenous peoples and for national and regional conservation strategies. It champions the invaluable knowledge and land guardianship of indigenous communities. Furthermore, the GDN calls for comprehensive conservation plans at national and regional levels, recognizing the need for action at all scales. This global movement has already garnered significant support, with over 300,000 individuals from 92 countries signing the petition urging world leaders to protect and restore half of Earth’s lands and oceans. PanNature, along with the international conservation community, stands firmly behind this critical initiative.
