PanNature’s Policy Newsletter No. 29-30 (Quarters I-II/2018) with the topic: "Vietnam Wildlife: Drained & Unsustained" analyzed the current status of illegal wildlife trade in Vietnam, difficulties in law enforcement and conservation, some policy and legal constraints, and recommendations to authorities to revise policies and tighten the enforcement of the wildlife protection laws.
To ensure the Sustainable Development Programme and Operational Plan are implemented widely and effectively, VRG on Wednesday signed agreements with many organisations, including one for sustainable forest management and certification with the Viet Nam Administration of Forestry and others with Oxfam and PanNature.
A refresher course for journalists on reporting about the conservation and rescue of wild animals began in the northern province of Vinh Phuc on May 21. The two-day event aims to popularise the reality of and reasons for wildlife trafficking, as well as share experiences of reporters and experts and expand the network of journalists reporting on the issue. PanNature took part in the IPEN's surveys to explore possible PFAS uses and pollution sources, scientific studies and government actions, including under the Stockholm Convention, in Vietnam. The Vietnam's PFAS situation report summarizes press reports and scientific studies on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in Vietnam from 2014 - 2018, contributes to IPEN’s Toxics-Free SDGs Campaign.
The manager of the project “impacts of small hydropower project on local livelihoods and ecosystems from the views of ethnic communities”, Ms. Chao Thi Yen, the Center for People and Nature Reconciliation (PanNature) has been selected by the Eco-Peace Leadership Center (EPLC) to become one of 10 leaders from Asia-Pacific region to participate in the 13th EPLC Program.
Nguyen Thi Hai Van, a PhD candidate at the Institute of Geography and Sustainability at Switzerland’s University of Lausanne, Policy Program Advisor of PanNature, did her Master’s research on the REDD+ pilot project in Kon Tum mentioned above. She explained in an email that this province, along with nearby Quang Nam and Quang Ngai, have received money from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to pay local communities to protect forests. This particular program was created with assistance from Fauna & Flora International.
On March 29th 2019, People and Nature Reconciliation (PanNature) in collaboration with the Women’s Union of Xuan Nha Commune and the Management Board of Xuan Nha Nature Reserve organized a workshop to conclude the Project on Promoting the Participation of Women in Natural Forest Restoration in Xuan Nha Natural Reverse at the Community Learning Center of Xuan Nha commune, Van Ho district, Son La province.
The 3rd training focused on causes and prevention of common diseases during seedlings; monitoring table development; humidity and shading control for seeds by age.
