After the mid-term meeting in September, 2018, during March 4-5 of 2019, in the Imperial City of Hue, PanNature joined our partners in a meeting under the Green Livelihoods Alliance Program (GLA).
On February 20 and 21, 2019, People and Nature Reconciliation (PanNature) organized a second training on propagating forest plants at the Field Office in Bo Nhang 2 Village, Van Ho Commune, Van Ho District, Son La.
Recently, The Inspectorate General of Finance, responded to People and Nature Reconciliation (PanNature), Vietnam Mining Coalition’s coordination unit, about the coalition’s petition to stop Thach Khe iron mine project, sent to leadership of the party, the national essembly, the government and ministries, boards and branches on January 17th, 2019.
From 13 to 19 January 2019, People and Nature Reconciliation (PanNature) staff organized a visit for the representatives of Dak Lak Union of Science and Technology Associations, Dak Rong Forestry Ltd. Co, Tram Lap Forestry Ltd. Co, and the representatives of the community in Ea Noul, Buon Don, Dak Lak to Lomphat Reserve in Ratanakiri province and Siem Pang Western Reserve in Stung Teng province, Cambodia.
Based on the results of field research and survey combined with expert consultation in the mineral field, on January 17th 2019, Vietnam Mining Coalition sent a petition about stopping the iron mine project and closing the mine in Thach Khe to leadership of the Communist Party, the National Essembly, as well as relevant ministries, boards and branches of Vietnam’s government.
To publish and widely circulate these Guidelines among business sector, on Jan 10th, 2019, PanNture, VCCI and Oxfam Vietnam jointly organized a seminar on Vietnam Cross-border Investment: Risks and Challenges on Legal Compliance.
Speaking at the event, head of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI)’s Department of Legal Affairs Dau Anh Tuan said Vietnam’s newly-registered overseas capital increased by 357.5 million USD during 11 months last year. Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar ranked first, second, and eighth among Vietnam’s top business destinations.
Along with the population growth and pressure from the human needs, natural ecological areas in Vietnam such as forests, wetlands, coastal mangrove forests ... have been rapidly narrowed, fragmented and degraded. Accordingly, not only biodiversity and ecological values have been lost, but many traditional cultural values of the community associated with nature have also been eroded. On December 20-21, 2018, in Dak Lak, People and Nature Reconciliation (PanNature) in collaboration with Dak Lak Union of Science & Technology Associations organized the workshop: “Promoting community-based conservation initiatives that contribute to preserving cultural and ecological diversity in Vietnam” in order to create opportunities for communities’ representatives and related organizations to share and discuss this topic.
PanNature organized this meeting on December 10th, 2018 to connect our business partners in piloting program with NGOs in Laos to strengthen the exchange dialogue between NGOs and Vietnamese private sectors and open an opportunity for further collaboration.
